Big Storm has been brewing since 2012 with a focus on artisanal sustainable yet delicious beers including the Arcus IPA, the Wavemaker Amber Ale, and the Helicity Pilsner. Big Storm sources all their ingredients locally, and their Oktoberfest Marzen Lager won the “Best in Show” award at the 2016 Florida Beer Championships. Their modern yet rustic ambience at the Clearwater brewery along with their artisanal approach to craft beer has proven to be executed very well – winning the Best of Clearwater Award for breweries.

THE BREW BUS

The Brew Bus is a unique service that offers transportation to local craft breweries and even serves their own brews on board. Both public and private charters are available, with weekly public tours that have been very well-received by visitors and private rentals for corporate outings, birthdays, and bachelor parties favored by local beer lovers. Founder Anthony Derby concocted this idea as a student at the University of Colorado when he tried to visit three breweries in one day – quickly realizing the need for a specialized transportation service, and now he offers visits to over 100 Florida breweries.

GREEN BENCH BREWING

Green Bench Brewing Co. is St. Pete’s first microbrewery, founded by two local friends who met at St. Pete High. Their passion for brewing and their vision of unique, high quality, beers using a combination of fresh, local and traditional ingredients led to the creation of a brand embraced by the community while pushing the boundaries of taste. Located downtown, they feature a large brewery, a tap room, and a beer garden.

KOZUBA & SONS CRAFT DISTILLERY

Founded in 2005 in Poland, Kozuba & Sons now calls Saint Pete home. The Kozubas create handcrafted spirits in small batches made only from the finest ingredients – taking a “grain-to-glass” approach to distilling, meaning they personally handle every part of the distillation process from milling and mashing to blending and bottling. Kozuba & Sons offer daily tours and tastings for free and give guests the rare opportunity to experience the processes behind producing fine spirits firsthand.

ST. PETERSBURG DISTILLERY

Founded in 2014, the St. Petersburg Distillery’s team shares a passion for both quality spirits and the spirit of St. Pete, hoping to contribute to lifelong memories of local culture in visitors and inspire that same passion in locals. Setting out to distill spirits that they wanted to drink, the St. Pete distillery features spirits made using 1950s-era pots, retro labeling, and sparing no expense in creating a quality drink. With such rich and complex flavors, their spirits have surely fulfilled the original goal of simply making a drink that could be truly enjoyed.

URBAN COMFORT RESTAURANT & BREWERY

Picture

Urban Comfort Brewery started out with a passion for Southern comfort food and high-end brews. Their pledge to make everything from scratch in the kitchen doesn’t end at the brewery – committing not to add extra chemicals, preservatives, or extracts. Despite being the only downtown restaurant and full brewery, Urban Comfort has not slacked off, investing in a European-style system that allows for complicated procedures like step-up infusion, protein tests, and allows for their beer to self-carbonate. This offers a continuous flow of tiny bubbles and makes for a much smoother feel.
