In the summer of 2010, Eric was contacted by a woman who wanted to bring PedalPub to St. Pete. They worked diligently to get the appropriate approvals from the City, and year later they were able to start operation in St. Petersburg. In 2016, Olson was able to buy out his partners in PedalPub, St. Pete and is now its sole proprietor. Though he still maintains a residence in Minneapolis, Olson plans to make a full transition to St. Petersburg in the earlier part of 2019. Over time Olson has grown quite fond of the St. Pete area as he's watched Central Avenue grow into the Edge District, and the Grand Central District. He further expresses that he's enjoyed "the people, the energy, the vitality of the area," and hopes to do so for years to come.
PedalPub ‘s mission is to provide a fun, safe, environmentally friendly way for groups of adults to get some light exercise and fresh air while touring interesting parts of town on a big Dutch-made bike. They actively partner with local businesses and non-profits interested in bike safety, the environment, and fun. Eric plans on driving many PedalPub tours himself; “Drew and Angie will continue managing operations, they are great, “I’ll basically work for them, so please say “hi” to the chubby, white-hair guy in the PedalPub shirt when you spot me!” says Eric Olson.
