January’s Leadership Roundtable featured Trevor Burgess, President, CEO and Founder of C1 Bank. Burgess met with approximately 30 young professionals on Wednesday January 26, 2016 to speak about leadership, how to make an impact in business and navigating the work-life balance.
Personal relationships and staying attuned to his mission are central to what motivates Burgess to create positive change in what once was a sleepy industry. People often stay or leave a job if they feel respected. For that reason, Burgess has molded the culture of C1 Bank into a place where employees feel they are respected, can grow and are a valuable part of the team.
So what would a successful leader like Burgess say to his 25-year-old self or to any young professional? “Save more money” and “do your research” – this advice is coupled with leading by example and working as hard as you’d expect anyone else to in your professional arena. Leadership is also impacted by who you look up to and are influenced by. Burgess’s influencers include his mother and Steve Ells (Founder and CEO of Chipotle).
