They have hosted the original waterfront Movies in the Park (“St. Petersburg Preservation’s Movies in the Park”) for 7 years. SPP had its first Movies in the Park as part of the celebration of the waterfront parks centennial celebration and it stuck.
It has been named one of the best events on the waterfront. Movies in the Park are held every Thursday in May and October. Music from a Tampa Bay band/artist begins the evening, followed by a movie. In October, music starts at 6:00PM and movies start at dark in beautiful North Straub Park (just south of the Vinoy). Vendors provide food and drink, but you are welcome to bring a picnic. Dogs are welcome and the St. Pete Bike Co-op offered free bike valet! This event is made possible by community sponsors and many volunteers.
SPP will hold their Preservation Awards in 2017. Awards are given to honor the people, associations, and businesses that work to preserve, restore, and complement the city’s historic buildings and places.
