Bright Spots Series: Urban Comfort

As of March 1st, Urban Comfort Restaurant and Brewery has been serving southern comfort style dishes and craft brews on Central Avenue for 9 months. Urban Comfort is the only brewpub in town with the quintessential St. Petersburg sport- shuffle board! Last month, their craft brewery also opened.

Business owners Steven Salyards and Camerin Collins developed the concept together when they were working at Urban Brew and BBQ. The concept took almost a year to fully develop and start with the building renovation.

Urban Comforts location was once referred to as “Automotive Alley”, and is now being called “Restaurant Row”. By the beginning of 2015, 7 gas station were converted to restaurants along Central Avenue; and Urban Comfort is proud to be apart of the re-purposing.

The team at Urban Comfort is proud to be located in the Grand Central District. While they like to keep it local, they also like to keep it neighborly, which is why they chose an architectural firm, general contractor, advertising firm and landscaper that are all Grand Central District entities.

Being able to provide a space where the local community can gather is highly important to the business owners, because they want not only to be in the community, but to be a part of it.
