Class Member Selection Process
The LSP Planning Committee forms a sub-committee each year (the Selection Committee) dedicated to improving the selection process for participants in the LSP program. The Selection Committee develops the final application for candidates to complete. Initial candidate screening is based upon the written applications submitted, scored by the Selection Committee in a blind process (the first page of the application, which identifies the applicant, is removed before the Selection Committee members evaluate the applications).
The top applicants are then selected for personal interviews with the Selection Committee. The written application scores and the interview scores are then combined and the highest scoring candidates are invited to participate in the program.
A class of approximately 35-40 individuals will be selected from those interviewed. Some qualified applicants may not be chosen for the class due to capacity limitations, and will be encouraged to apply for next year's class.
LSP is not accepting applications at this time. Applications are traditionally made available by September of each year, with a deadline to complete and submit in early October for the next LSP class that begins late December/early January. The application for the LSP program is subject to review every year by the Selection Committee. However, many aspects of the application remain consistent year after year. The application is essay-based, focusing on the individual's business, professional and community involvement. The Selection Committee is looking for applicants that have demonstrated the desire to be active citizens and participants in our community.
