Dear Women’s Leadership Council Members,
It’s back! At this Chamber, one of our guiding principles is volunteer engagement. We’re excited that demand has been strong to reestablish the Women’s Leadership Council.
Jo-An Thomas has stepped up to serve as the Council Chair this year in addition to her duties as Iconic Women of St. Petersburg Chair. I am sure by now you know Jo-An as she has been involved with the Women’s Leadership Council since moving to St. Petersburg from the Boston area in 2010. She was involved with the Link and INSPIRE! events, as well as serving as the 2013 Chair of the VIP Lipstick Lounge. We are very happy to have her leading this dynamic group of women.
The St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Leadership Council invites you to be part of an initiative this year to:
· Endeavor to help empower women in every level of business: emerging leaders, middle manager, and seasoned leaders
· Provide a supportive network for women in our community
· Provide interesting and compelling programming that engages thoughtful debate
· Format and develop a WLC Steering Committee
Please join me, Ivory Blackwood, and Jo-An Thomas on Thursday, April 10, 2014, in the Chamber Boardroom at 4pm for the next WLC. We are anxious to hear more from you and your perspective on how to continue to engage in a meaningful way and add value to your Chamber membership...

ABOUT THE WOMEN"S LEADERSHIP COUNCIL:
The Women’s Council of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce provides opportunities for women in business to network, to support and learn from one another, and to recognize and honor women who have made a significant impact in the professional and business community of St. Petersburg and Pinellas County. With a series of on-going events, the all-volunteer Women’s Council focuses on building relationships that contribute to business and community success. Women’s Council meetings are held quarterly at the St. Pete Chamber. A seminal annual event organized by the Women’s Council is a spring gala lunch of several hundred attendees with a notable keynote businesswoman, and a program of awards recognizing local businesswomen and women in community service. The Women’s Council also organizes several smaller series of forums engaging women to speak about various industry and women in leadership topics. The Women’s Council always welcomes new members to help with these community enhancing events.
The Chamber hosts a number of programs designed to engage their membership on topics and issues that are important to the community. The Chamber's program committee members are focused on utilizing a platform of influence, innovation and opportunity and provides the tools to empower members to grow their business and build a better community. Women’s Leadership Series events; Women’s LINK; the annual Defining Iconic: "What Makes A Leader Iconic” panel discussion event, and the Annual "Iconic Women of St. Petersburg” Celebrating Women with Vision Awards.
Produced by a volunteer committee, the annual signature event to benefit The Chamber and recognize community leaders is held each spring - the Iconic Women of St. Petersburg – Celebrating Women with Vision Awards - which draws hundreds of attendees during a gala luncheon with an inspirational awards program recognizing local businesswomen and women in community service.
