See the Pros Play Team Canada - Eight Game Series Mar. 9 to 16 at Al Lang Stadium

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (February 10, 2014) - The media is invited to join Mayor Rick Kriseman and members of the sports and business communities for a "First Pitch" reception at the St. Petersburg Museum of History, 335 Second Ave. NE, on Thursday, February 27th from 4 to 6 p.m. to celebrate the city's 100th year of hosting Spring Training in St. Petersburg. It was on this date in 1914 that The St. Louis Browns lost to the Chicago Cubs 3-2 at Coffee Pot Park signifying the first official spring training game in St. Petersburg. The museum's exhibition of "Schrader's Little Cooperstown", the world's largest collection of autographed baseballs seems an appropriate back-drop for this historic celebration and official start of the fourth season of Spring International Baseball at Al Lang Stadium, March 9 through the 16.

Team Canada takes the home field for the series at the historic Al Lang Stadium, 230 First St. S. in St. Petersburg. Top First Round MLB Prospect Gareth Morgan leads the talented Canadian Junior National Team's best young ball players as they challenge the pros including the Toronto Blue Jays

on March 11.

The 100th Celebration Game, the first game in the series, will be played on Sunday, March 9 and is  sponsored by the East-West Shrine Game. Mayor Kriseman will be on hand to throw out the first pitch, and Babe Ruth's daughter, Julia Ruth Stevens is expected to make a special guest appearance.
