Last week, Chamber members had the opportunity to hear from representatives from Fisher & Phillips LLP on how proposed changes to the federal overtime rules may have a radical impact on how employers manage the hours of salaried staff. If the proposed overtime rules take effect as written, the required minimum salary to qualify for an overtime exemption would more than double in 2016. According to the Department of Labor, this would mean that 4.6 million employees who are currently exempt from overtime would become entitled to overtime. If you weren’t able to attend the lunch and learn, you can view the presentation by clicking here. By no later than September 4th, click here to let the Department of Labor know how this proposed rule would affect your business.
