General Election: November 3, 2020

On November 3rd, Florida will will join the rest of the country for the 2020 General Election. On the ballot in November will be elections for President, US Congress, State Legislature, County Commission, Sheriff, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, and School Board as well as 6 Constitutional Amendments and a local School Property Tax Referendum.

Constitutional Amendments and Local Referendums

Amendment 1- Suffrage
Amends the State Constitution to mandate that only US Citizens can vote in Federal, State, Local or School elections.
Amendment 2- Mimimum Wage
Amends the State Constitution to mandate a statewide minimum hourly wage of $15 by 2026.
Amendment 3- Elections
Amends the State Constitution to establish a top-two open primary system for state office primary elections. 
Amendment 4- Direct Democracy
Amends the State Constitution to require voter-approved constitutional amendments be approved by voters at a second General Election.
Amendment 5- Taxes
Amends the State Constitution to increase the period during which a person may transfer “Save our Homes” benefits to a new homestead property from two years to three years. 
Amendment 6- Taxes
Amends the State Constitution to allow a homestead property tax discount to be transferred to the surviving spouse of a deceased veteran. 
School Property Tax Referendum- 
Extends the current .5-mill property surtax to help fund teacher salaries and educational enrichment, including Arts Education, in Pinellas County Public Schools.
