Chamber Asks for More Time on Late Night Permit Changes

Posted On 03/03/2021 by Matt Lettelleir

Earlier today the St. Pete Chamber’s Board of Governors voted to oppose the proposed changes to the City’s Late Night Permit Ordinance in favor of referring the item to a Committee for further discussion.

City Staff has been working on the proposed changes since 2019 in order to combat illegal alcohol sales occurring within the city. However, the proposed changes have the potential to be more substantive than clarifying and could have unintended consequences.

By referring to a committee, the City Council will have a more thorough understanding and have the opportunity to remove any provisions that are not in the best interest of the City as a whole.
