The site of the former Police Headquarters in the Edge District of St. Pete is being put out to bid for redevelopment. Seven local and national developers submitted proposals in May and the Mayor will choose one of them and bring a contract to City Council for approval.
On June 11th, the Chamber’s Housing, Land Use and Development Committee met to hear presentations from 6 of the 7 developers of this potentially large development on what is now public land.

We extend a sincere thank you to 1301 Central Ave, Altis Cardinal, Edge Central Development Partners, Harrod Properties, Midtown Real Estate, and Waverly Capital for joining us.
Each developer had 5 minutes to present their project and an additional 2 minutes to answer questions. After the presentations concluded, the Committee decided to submit a ranking of elements deemed most important and cross reference those with the developers that included those elements.
The Committee focused primarily on the inclusion of Class-A Office Space and Mixed Income Housing, as priorities with the availability of public parking and ground floor retail also being important to the committee. Several members also expressed a desire for coworking space.
Additionally, the uncertainty of the future of the CSX Corridor played a role in discussions, with many members expressing a desire for the line to be maintained for future transit use or as a greenway trail.
Lastly, a few members were interested in the adaptive reuse of a portion of the current structure as an option.
