Entrepreneurial Academy (Virtual) at the Greenhouse

St. Petersburg loves its entrepreneurs and small businesses. The community does all it can to welcome and support these passionate business owners and those with a dream of becoming a business leader. Each Spring and Fall the Greenhouse and the St. Petersburg Chamber offer an amazing program called the Entrepreneurial Academy (EA). It’s sponsored by Truist and supported by Molly’s Suds.  The 10-week course teaches the business essentials needed to turn business dreams into reality.

I am a Fall 2016 graduate and have seen firsthand how powerful this program can be. Not only do you learn the foundations needed to be get your business started but you hear from seasoned business leaders about their entrepreneurial journey as they share their expertise with the class.

 Weekly sessions include:

•             Creating a business plan

•             Selling yourself & your idea

•             Marketing your business

•             Legal issues for entrepreneurs

•             Accounting – Financing – Business development

•             Resources available to help your business grow and thrive—and more.

In addition to learning the nuts and bolts of business you also gain a tremendous support team cheering you on to success. There is even an alumni group that meets regularly to keep the support system going. I still connect with several classmates from my EA class and do business with many, as well.

Graduates of the Entrepreneurial Academy also receive a one-year membership with the St. Petersburg Chamber. It’s one more way the city embraces its new business owners. Getting involved with the Chamber you expand your network through the different events and councils available to you and your business.

One other amazing perk—dinner is included every Monday night! It’s sponsored by local restaurants who are also entrepreneurs giving back to support new businesses, too.  It’s a great way to get a taste of St. Pete and hear the “why” behind these businesses and it’s very inspiring.

The next Entrepreneurial Academy starts on September 14th and goes through November 16th, 2020.  It is held each virtually on Monday evenings from 6-9:00PM. At $399 it’s a small investment in your future that more than pays for itself with the content, chamber membership, network and the long term camaraderie. If you have a business dream this course is for you. It’s an amazing program that helps you take your business ideas and make them your reality.
