The 15th Annual Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is a race event held during Florida’s spring break season. As the NTT IndyCar Series’ season-opening race for the ninth consecutive year, March 8-10, 2019, St. Pete is the perfect destination to host this motorsports tradition and offers a festival atmosphere with its downtown location.
The temporary circuit is a 1.8-mile, 14-turn configuration using the streets circling Pioneer Park, the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater, the Dali Museum and extending onto the runways at Albert Whitted Airport, which overlooks the waterfront of Tampa Bay and picturesque St. Petersburg Harbor and Marina.
“The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is a must do event. The experience extends beyond the great racing on track. Get access to the locker room of motorsports with a Paddock pass. Family friendly activities fill the SpeedZone, plus many unique food and merchandise vendors,” said Kim Green, co-owner, chairman and CEO of Green Savoree Racing Promotions, organizers of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. “St. Pete provides a world-class setting, and the downtown remains open to experience its great restaurants and shopping. This is the ideal coastal destination for both the fans and drivers to get a new IndyCar season started.”
The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is always looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers with a can-do attitude to join the event team. For additional ticket and grandstand seat pricing, event information, and corporate partnership and entertainment options, visit gpstpete.com.
Chase the night on track! Another great tradition of the race weekend is the 7th Annual Modern Business Associates 5K Run on the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg track, which starts on Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. ET. The start/finish line will be on Bay Shore Drive NE, on the water side of North Straub Park. The race follows a route through Downtown St. Petersburg and on the Grand Prix track. It is a run or walk format for participants.
The proceeds from this community wellness event benefit the Police Athletic League of St. Petersburg, supporting its local youth programs. Companies are also encouraged to enlist teams for a group rate.
Registration includes race entry with chipped timing bib, commemorative finisher’s medal, T-shirt, and Friday general admission to Firestone Grand Prix (if race packet is picked up in person on Thursday, March 7 – location TBD). For more information and to register, visit gpstpete5k.com.
