Florida Business Woman - Advocacy Feature
Business & Professional Women - FL is a State Legacy Partner of the Business & Professional Women’s Foundation, the first foundation dedicated to conducting research and providing information solely about working women. Founded in 1919, BPW has a long track record of promoting equity for women in the workplace. BPW provides leadership through advocacy, education, and information within our communities, states, and the nation on issues we all care about.
THROUGHOUT THE YEARS BPW HAS FOCUSED ON THREE CORE ISSUES:
The Elimination of Gender Discrimination
Ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment
With a goal of creating transformational women’s leadership programming and experiences for women of Pinellas County, BPW - St. Petersburg/Pinellas and the Chamber continue a multi-year, mutually beneficial strategic partnership. The St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce has continued to partner with the local chapter of BPW to encourage participation of reciprocal events and programs, and enhance the memberships of both organizations. Chamber Vice President of Advocacy, Christie Bruner, was recently asked to contribute an article to the official publication of BPW-FL regarding the topic of Advocacy in Action.
