Celebrate 50 Years of the Tampa Bay Rowdies

In St. Petersburg, we’ve always known the power of sports to bring people together. Recently, with the Tampa Bay Rays are temporarily relocated to Tampa due to storm damage at Tropicana Field, many local businesses have shared how much they can feel the their absence in the community. We understand that impact deeply.
But it’s also important to remember: professional sports are still alive and well in downtown St. Pete. The Tampa Bay Rowdies continue to call Al Lang Stadium home—and for 50 years, they’ve been one of the most exciting and authentic gems of our community.
And they aren’t going anywhere. On August 21, 2025, St. Petersburg City Council approved a one-year extension of the Rowdies’ agreement to manage and operate Al Lang Stadium through the 2026 season. For the Rowdies, Al Lang isn’t just a stadium—it’s home.
So while the Rays will return once repairs are complete, we have a golden opportunity right now to show our pride for the Rowdies.
A Rowdy History Worth Celebrating
Founded in 1975, the Tampa Bay Rowdies were the first professional sports franchise in the region. Their inaugural season ended with a Soccer Bowl Championship win, setting the tone for a tradition built on grit, fun, and community. Over the decades, the Rowdies became known for their lively spirit: the unforgettable “Kick in the Grass” fight song, their loyal supporters, and their unwavering green-and-gold pride.
From legendary matches featuring icons like Pele, to unforgettable modern-era playoff runs, the Rowdies have created memories for generations. Today, they remain a symbol of what makes St. Petersburg unique: community, creativity, and a little rowdy fun.
The Heartbeat of the Stadium: Ralph’s Mob
Any Rowdies game wouldn’t be complete without Ralph’s Mob, the independent supporter group that has brought energy, color, and music to Al Lang since 2010. Whether waving flags, chanting, or creating massive tifo displays, Ralph’s Mob embodies what it means to be “Rowdy.” Their efforts—alongside their charitable arm Ralph’s Mob Charities—make a difference in the stadium and in the community.

Business Opportunities with the Rowdies
Sports have always been more than the game on the field—they’re about connection. The Rowdies offer local businesses a dynamic way to build relationships, celebrate successes, and market their brand in front of thousands of fans.
A Call to Our Business Community
The Rowdies’ longevity isn’t just about soccer—it’s about St. Pete showing up for St. Pete. As they celebrate 50 years, this is our chance to rally behind them, fill Al Lang Stadium, and showcase to the nation that our community supports its team.
Whether it’s marketing your brand on the field, building client relationships in a suite, or bringing your team for a night of bonding, the Rowdies give you ways to think outside the boardroom and inside an atmosphere full of energy, connection, and community.
So while the Rays will return once repairs are complete, let’s seize this moment to support the Rowdies—the team that never left St. Pete.
